Fred, a turkey who became an unofficial mascot for Deptford Township, died on Wednesday, March 25 after being hit by a car, authorities said.
The turkey was promptly memorialized by Deptford police, who created a song for the turkey who loved chasing motorists and being a nuisance. He was hit by a car at Clements Bridge Road and Caufield Avenue, where he spent his time, police said.

Bicyclist Killed In Atlantic Beach Hit-And-Run; Long Beach Driver Charged
A bicyclist was killed in a hit-and-run crash on a Long Island roadway, police said.
Erin M. Henry, 67, of Long Beach, is accused of striking a cyclist and fleeing the scene in Atlantic Beach on Tuesday, March 24, at 7:46 a.m., according to Nassau County Police.
Detectives said Henry was driving a 2019 Honda HR-V eastbound on Beech Street near Scott Drive when she hit an unidentified male bicyclist. She continued driving eastbound after the crash, police said.
The bicyclist was pronounced dead at the scene by the Long Beach Fire Department, authorities said.

26-Year-Old Hudson Man Killed In Rollover Crash On Route 9 In Stockport
A 26-year-old man was killed in a rollover crash on Route 9 in Columbia County, police said.
The crash happened on Wednesday, March 18, just after 10 p.m. near 829 Route 9 in the town of Stockport, New York State Police said on Thursday, March 19.
According to police, Mohammad M. Alamin, of Hudson, was driving a 2002 Ford southbound when the vehicle left the roadway.
Investigators said the car struck a guide rail on the west side, crossed the northbound lane, and then hit a tree, causing it to overturn.
