Vehicle Leaves Road, Strikes Pedestrian On Watervliet Sidewalk
A vehicle veered off the roadway and struck a pedestrian walking on a sidewalk in Watervliet Thursday night, police announced.
The crash happened near the intersection of 19th Street and 4th Avenue around 9 p.m. on Friday, May 8, according to Watervliet police.
Investigators determined the vehicle left the roadway before crashing into a tree, a street sign, and a pedestrian before coming to a stop, authorities said.
The victim, a 54-year-old man, suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital by the Watervliet Fire Department, police said.

A pickup truck driver was killed on Wednesday night, May 6, after he went off the road and crashed into the front of a Connecticut house, authorities said.
Matthew James Sherman, 42, of Foster, Rhode Island, was identified as the driver killed when his truck crashed into the Killingly home at 1356 Hartford Pike, Connecticut State Police said.
