Residents of a home in Westchester had to be evacuated after a used rag pile spontaneously combusted in their residence, starting a fire. The incident happened on Saturday, March 4, around 1:45 p.m., when a Port Chester police officer on patrol noticed smoke coming out of the second story of a house on Olivia Street. Central Mass Firefighters Battle Back Flames In Home's Basement
Firefighters in Holden rushed to a home on Zottoli Road earlier this week when someone saw smoke pouring from someone's basement, officials said. The two-alarm fire was first called in just after 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 1. Flames licked the side of the home as they poured out of the basement window as firefighters arrived. But crews were able to contain the fire before it spread to the rest of the home. There was damage to the basement and other floors. No injuries were reported.

Attic Fire Heavily Damages Norwalk Home
A fire that started in a finished attack, heavily damaged a Norwalk home with smoke and water. The fire started around at the Norwalk home located at 150 Chestnut Hill Road around 1 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 18. The residents were able to self-evacuate. No one was injured, said Deputy Chief Michael McCallum. Some 29 firefighters who responded with two trucks were able to bring the fire under control in 25 minutes, McCallum said. The home sustained heavy fire and smoke damage. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, McCallum said.
