A 77-year-old man was killed after he was struck by two vehicles while attempting to cross a busy roadway in Lindenhurst, Suffolk County Police announced on Tuesday, Jan. 6. Kenneth Cook, 77, of Lindenhurst, was crossing Montauk Highway from south to north between South Wellwood and Washington avenues when the crash happened, police said. A woman struck and killed while crossing a busy roadway in Nassau County has been identified, police said. Azucena Lopez Rodriguez, 46, of Lynbrook, was fatally struck while crossing Sunrise Highway at the intersection of Horton Avenue at 5:33 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 14, according to Nassau County Police. Detectives said Lopez Rodriguez was hit by a 2012 Hyundai operated by an 18-year-old male. She was transported to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead by a hospital physician. The driver remained at the scene following the crash, police said. The investigation remains ongoing.
