The Brick Township community is mourning the sudden loss of local dad Matthew Michael Matera, who died unexpectedly at his home on Sept. 10, according to his obituary from the Weatherhead Young Funeral Home. He was 36.
Matera was born in Point Pleasant and spent his childhood in Cape Coral, FL, before returning to New Jersey, where he built a life with his wife, Jen, according to his obituary. A driver from New Jersey is accused of passing out drunk behind the wheel in an active work zone on Interstate 95 in Westchester County, NY, then nearly hitting a trooper as he tried to drive away, police said.

A Bergen County judge has reinstated a petition to recall Park Ridge Board of Education member Robert Fisher Jr. after it was previously rejected over a notary dispute, Daily Voice has learned.
