Kevin F. Kennedy, of Toms River, died after suffering a medical emergency while surfing with his son, Jack, according to a GoFundMe launched for his family. He was 56 years old.
"Kevin left this world doing what he cherished most—surfing in the ocean, a lifelong passion that brought him peace and joy," Margaret Rizzo, who organized the GoFundMe wrote. "His final moments were spent in the water, with his son Jack beside him, and the ocean's salt and sand still clinging to him—a poetic farewell that echoed his deepest wishes."

Two Pennsylvania men who disguised themselves as construction workers and stole more than $1 million in cash, watches, and firearms from a Long Island are heading to prison.
Dejuan Michaels, 31, and Daiquan Smith, 30, were each sentenced Friday, Oct. 31, in Nassau County Court to nine years in prison for their roles in the September 2023 burglary.
